FSU President

BENNETT, MeaghanBENNETT, Meaghan
I'm currently in the Dental Hygiene Program, and have also completed the Dental Assisting and Human Services Foundation Programs here at Fanshawe. Over the past five years I have gotten to know many staff, students, and be actively involved in the Fanshawe community. I have been a class representative for the past two years and initiated two fundraisers focused on helping vulnerable populations in the city. Through these experiences I have enhanced my ability to communicate and be an effective liaison between staff, students, and other members of the community. Throughout the past five years, I have used many of the services at Fanshawe, creating a great understanding of their strengths and areas that need improvement. I have also been involved with the Peer Tutoring services and thoroughly enjoyed my time helping students become engaged in their learning. I am a member of the Spectrum collective and feel passionate about equality through advocating for LGBTQ rights here at Fanshawe and in the broader community. I am confident in my abilities to advocate for the Fanshawe student population and would love the opportunity to be President of the FSU!

MEHTA, AshishMEHTA, Ashish
What's up Fanshawe!

My name is Ashish Mehta, and I am an International student from India. Over the past fifteen months Fanshawe College has been my home. Being part of the student population, I have engaged myself in various activities and learned new things that have changed my vision towards life. This has inspired me to give back to the student community and that's why I am running for FSU President.

I have started my academic career at Fanshawe in January 2013 and graduated from Project Management program with President's Honor Roll, and I am currently taking a Business program. Fanshawe has given me the skills to be able to manage the resources effectively, which is an asset to run the Fanshawe student body and yield prosperous results for the students.

I believe we all are connected as one people. It's a fundamental believe:

I'm my brother's keeper
I'm my sister's keeper
I'm my student's voice
Hope in the face of difficulty
Hope in the face of uncertainty
Hope in the face of togetherness
Hope in the face of diversity

This makes the student union work.

When elected, I will re-engage the students in this amazing campus life and will make them excited and interested in what works and what can work to make Fanshawe the coolest college in Canada.

“Actions Speak Louder Than Words,
Let My Actions Speak For Me, Ehhhh!”

The election begins on March 10th
Go Falcons!!!

STEWART, MattSTEWART, Matthew
G'Day mate,

My name is Matt Stewart and I am an international student from Australia and I hope to bring some new ideas to the FSU in the role of President this upcoming year. I am a graduate of the Graphic Design Program here at Fanshawe College and because of my involvement in many areas pride myself on living and breathing Fanshawe.

Many Canadians ask me why I came to Canada instead of staying in Australia and my answer is always the same: volleyball. I was recruited to play volleyball for Fanshawe and was honored when being handed the captaincy in my rookie year.

I have held the position of VP of Athletics and Residence Life in the 2012-13 year and the position of VP of External and Academic Affairs in this current year of school. I loved the life that the FSU gave me - looking after fellow students. Running for president means I can take my knowledge that I have learnt over the past two years as a vice President at the FSU and take charge and make changes that will benefit students greatly.

I believe that the Fanshawe Student Union can better serve the students with the services that we provide but I also know that many student around the college don't know about these opportunities. If elected I will provide more vision of the FSU letting all students know about events, benefits, opportunities for work and in general everything that is the Fanshawe Student Union.

FSU VP Finance

CLUSIAU, AustinCLUSIAU, Austin
Hello Everyone! My name is Austin Clusiau and I am excited to be running for the 2014/2015 VP of Finance. I am currently finishing my first year in CTY, and have only lived in London since the start of the school year. Previously I lived in Kincardine Ontario, attending Kincardine District Secondary School, before that I moved around throughout northern Ontario.

Because of moving around a lot I know that one of the most difficult things with new experiences is the availability of information. College is a new experience for most people and some of the most important information is your finances. Unfortunately one of the large stresses in a college student's life is money, and this takes our focus and time away from our studies, athletics and creativity. I hope to be able to bring all the information you need to succeed, and help you get the most out of college while you're here.

I can be reached at most times of the day at a_clusiau@fanshaweonline.ca. If you see me around the school, (or G building where I can be found most mornings while not in class) stop me and say hello.
