The daily survival guide to Fanshawe

This map will help plan out your perfect day at Fanshawe from your morning coffee to your end of the day beer.

What a beautiful morning. The sun is shining, the birds are singing; everything seems splendid, everything other than the fact that you are late for class. Looks like there is no time to make breakfast this morning but at least you packed a lunch for your three-hour break this afternoon. Oh wait, you did not make that either, well don’t worry, because your day is about to turn around thanks to this handy best day ever guide.

If you had not continuously pressed the snooze button this morning, you might have gotten a lovely breakfast from the Oasis1, but instead you are rushing from the buses to class as your stomach growls in protest.

Since you are already going to be late, it is probably best to avoid the excessive lines over at the Oasis and make a trip to the Southwest Cafe2 instead. This hidden gem is tucked away in a corner of D building so it is essentially a walk-through restaurant. The coffee is not great, but the breakfasts are cheap and delicious.

If you are only looking for a morning dose of caffeine, hit up the cafe in B building3. The Tim Horton’s inside is impossible to avoid if you bussed to school.

One of the definitive downsides to college life is the inevitable three-hour break you will have between classes.

It does not have to be entirely bad news though because there is a lot to do on campus in that time. Between the computer labs and the college bar you will find plenty of ways to mix things up this year.

If you have a lot of homework, there are computer labs4 in both B and D building, but if you are just looking for a desk the library5 has a plethora of tables with varying levels of peace and quiet.

The third floor of the library is particularly nice due to the lack of students who care enough to walk up two flights of stairs; laziness is a gift.

For group study sessions, skip the library and head straight to the second floor of Oasis1. Once there, you will find an array of couches, armchairs, sofas and even a ping pong table for the less productive study group members.

Speaking of being unproductive, Fanshawe is fully equipped with everything you need to derail your perfectly healthy study habits. Rather than being at college for good grades, some of us are only here for the unfathomable debt that comes with a cramped dorm and roommates who do not fully comprehend what personal bubble means.

For casual lounging, visit the James A. Colvin atrium6 in B building. It has some comfy sofas and it never closes.

If video gaming is more down your alley, you have got two options. Room 1015 in G building7 is the central hub for round the clock League of Legends tournaments, while the games room beside The Out Back Shack8 has a healthy mix of pool tables and next generation game consoles.

Video games are not for everyone though and for that reason we have The Out Back Shack8, although the fitfully erratic hours may be the worst part of Fanshawe. If you are lucky, you will end up there on one of the Sex Toy Bingo nights.

Well look at that, it is just about time to go home. We sure did pack a lot into our day at Fanshawe, but we must be missing something… ah yes, The Biz Booth9. Although this is not so much a daily activity, it is your go-to for everything, from campus concert tickets to the weekly First Run Films that play at Rainbow Cinemas on Wednesdays.

Movie tickets may not be that exciting at first, that is until you find out that tickets are only four dollars.

It must be nice to have a friend who shares this type of stuff; a friend who writes it all down and prints off a handy little map to find everything. If anybody is interested in thanking such a kind person, I am always open to receiving movie tickets from mysterious benefactors. Just leave them with my editor Jessica at the Interrobang office10.
