For the low price of $1, students can help raise money to fund the Sharing Shop, Fanshawe's on-campus emergency food bank.

The Sharing Shop is hosting a fundraising event so students can give back to their classmates and share some of the love that comes along with the month of February.

For only $1 students can buy a Share-O-Gram, which includes a card with a heart shape and a few Hershey’s kisses. Students can then write their name on it to mark their donation.

The Share-O-Gram is then posted on a wall, much like the Movember campaign. The collection of cards will show off how generous Fanshawe students are.

The event is for a great cause. All of the money raised will go towards The Sharing Shop, the on-campus emergency food bank.

“It is an extremely important resource on campus, as it is greatly needed for those in a temporary bind,” said Amy Romao, the organizer of The Sharing Shop.

Located in B1050, The Sharing Shop is accessed by many students who struggle to buy food or other necessary products.

Whether it is due to a lost job, a late OSAP payment, The Sharing Shop can be extremely helpful for a student who is struggling to make ends meet.

Romao said almost 300 students per month access The Sharing Shop, adding that Share-o-Grams are a great way to raise funds.

The Sharing Shop is run completely on a volunteer basis.

Share-o-Grams are a great way to give back to the Fanshawe community and help those who may be struggling to get by.

Anyone who is interested in donating to The Sharing Shop can drop off nonperishable food, toiletries or cleaning supplies at The Sharing Shop in B1050, the Fanshawe Student Union office in SC2001, the Bookstore in F1002 or at Counselling and Accessibility Services in F2010.
