In only a matter of weeks, FUEL is already catching the attention of many Fanshawe students on campus

The Fanshawe Ultimate eSports League (FUEL) has been running strong since it began only a few weeks ago. Come join the fun every Monday in Forwell Hall and play some great games with all your friends.

The Fanshawe Ultimate eSports League (FUEL) hosted its second meeting on Sept. 18. FUEL is a new initiative this school year that allows students of all skill levels to compete in video game tournaments or watch others compete. Over 250 students have signed-up for the league so far.

The league's first meeting on Sept. 11 kicked off with a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament. In regards to rankings, Philippe “Pawn” Etienne was the winner of the tournament.

After students voiced their opinions on what games to add to the league's roster, the newest additions are Overwatch and Rocket League.

On Sept. 18, the league hosted a Rocket League tournament, where Zachary “WhiteShadowHunter” Collins won the tournament undefeated.

Members will have the chance to play Overwatch at the next meeting on Monday Sept. 25. Overwatch is a tactical team based shooter from Blizzard, the company responsible for creating hits like World of Warcraft and Diablo. Released in 2016, Overwatch has taken the gaming community by storm with its colourful aesthetic and fast paced gameplay. Click on the thumbnails below to view a larger version of each image.
