Nord Mensah is currently the program co-ordinator for the international business management program at Fanshawe.

Nord Mensah plead guilty to a charge of conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline at a court martial in British Columbia on Dec. 4.

Mensah, a former naval base commander in Victoria B.C., pleaded guilty to having a personal relationship with a female officer that was under his chain of command.

According to a Dec. 6 London Free Press article, Mensah did not report his relationship, which is required under the National Defense Act.

Mensah was fined $2,500 and received a severe reprimand by the military court.

According to the London Free Press article, another charge of conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline and a charge of disgraceful conduct were withdrawn.

According to a Dec. 7 Global News/980 CFPL article, Mensah retired from the military in 2016 after 17 years of service. Shortly after retiring from the military, Mensah began his job as the new program co-ordinator for the international business management program at Fanshawe last spring.

Corporate Communications explained that Fanshawe College is unable to comment on the case due to privacy rules.

It is still unknown whether the charge will impact Mensah's employment at Fanshawe.

Since Mensah retired from the Canadian Forces before coming to Fanshawe, the Department of National Defence did not have any additional comments than what has been already been reported and shared via media.
