Cadillac Fairview (CF) has announced a significant donation of $500,000 to 18 youth-focused charities across Canada. This donation will be used to support essential services and programs for youth including education, health, wellness, employment and more.

After having a positive impact on over 7,100 youth last year, CF continues efforts this year to give back to communities across the country.

CF chose charities that value youth and empower the next generation of leaders such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto, Boys and Girls Clubs of Ottawa and Resource Assistance for Youth.

Balloons were sent to each receiving charity to announce the donations. The list of charities spans coast to coast with organizations in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, and New Brunswick.

The Children's Health Foundation is a London based youth service that will be receiving a donation.

On behalf of CF Masonville Place, The Children's Health Foundation was given $20,000.

General manager of CF Masonville Place, Sandra Lorentiu, spoke with the Interrobang about concept of donating to the specific charities.

“Charities for us are important especially youth based charities. CF Masonville Place is a hub in our community and we always feel it is important to make an impact on our community, especially with future leaders,” Lorentiu said.

According to Lorentiu, CF Masonville Place continuously works to support youth in a number of ways. The company recently partnered with the WE organization to support grade 10 students who will be entering the workforce in future years.

CF also has a backpack to briefcase video series that works to assist youth with their resumes, networking and dealing with rejection after interviews that do not go well.

“Many of them [youth] get their first jobs here at CF Masonville Place so we thought why not invest in our future and our community and we do so with youth charities such as Children's Health Foundation,” Lorentiu said. “As long as our philanthropic partners tell us that there is a level of success then we will continue to support these groups and I think we will see the benefits by a lot of these youth taking on professional roles in our community.”

Each year, CF organizes events to raise money for additional charities. The 5 kilometre CF Run/Walk is a fundraiser to support SickKids and the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (PCOG). The CF Golf Classic works to support the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Covenant House Toronto, and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation.
