Slangdoll to shock the Shack

Is Metal your calling?

Well it certainly is for Slangdoll, and these guys can really deal it out, aces high. Spreading their hard metal roots right here at Fanshawe, Slangdoll first formed in 2003 when guitarist Norm Weichel met drummer Josh Jenkins through an advertisement at the school. Later that same year, bassist Scott Williams joined the duo to form the band.

Last July, guitarist Mike Ivanov was also added to the line-up to reinforce their already heavy, in your face, sound.

“He is a sick axe player and has been a good friend of ours for a long time and the show on the 17th will be his second show with the band,” Williams said about their new bandmate.

The band draws from a variety of influences ranging from Metallica, Pantara, System of a Down, The Police and Waylon Jennings to top it off.

Slangdoll released their first E.P. entitled Container Poison in 2004 and have plans to release a full length CD, Retention, in the spring/summer of 2007.

“It [Retention] still has the gritty, shatter your teeth hard rock and metal sound we're known for, but it will also feature some really beautiful acoustic and light rock tracks that we feel [will] bring a new, even, balance to our sound” said Williams.

Retention is being produced by ex-guitarist and MIA graduate Matt Grady. The band will also be one of the very first to record with Grady's new company Chopped Up Audio.

On Friday November 17th, Slangdoll will be playing a free, all ages, show in the Out Back Shack, doors open at 9pm.

If you can't make it to the show, you can check out the bands websites at www.slangdoll.com and www.myspace.com/slangdoll where you can get info on their upcoming album, download the old one for free and see what else this great band has to offer.
