Men's basketball drop to third in country with tournament loss
The St. Clair Saints upset the Fanshawe Falcons 71-68 in the Championship final in the 29th annual George Brown Invitational Tournament held January 6-7. Fanshawe went into the tournament as the number one ranked team in the country, and with the loss dropped to third in the country when the rankings were posted on January 9. In the Championship game, St. Clair managed to build a 39-21-halftime lead over the Falcons and although the Falcons posted 47 points in the second half, they fell just short as a last second three-point attempt rimmed out. Third-year guard Pat Sewell is the leading scorer for Fanshawe averaging 16.3 point per game and sits second for most three-pointers with 20 made this season. The Falcons first regular season game of 2007 is Wednesday, January 17 at 7pm at home against the same St. Clair Saints.

Women's basketball is off to a 3-2 start
After starting the first half of year with a 3-2 record, the Fanshawe Falcon women's basketball team is currently sitting in third place in the OCAA West division. The women stand a good chance to compete in the second half of the season, considering their only losses have came against the OCAA West leading Algoma Thunderbirds, who started the season 6-1. The Falcons next regular season game is on Wednesday, January 17 at home against the St. Clair Saints.

Defending OCAA West champions looking to turn around season
The Fanshawe Falcons men's volleyball team will look to turn things around in 2007. After going 3-0 to start the season the Falcons lost two matches to the Niagara Knights to close out the first half of the season. With a 3-2 record and a current third place spot in the OCAA West division, the defending division champions will look to improve upon their record and compete for a playoff spot. Led by third-year Ted Bowcock (3.06 points per game) the Falcons are only two points away from the leaders in the West division. The Falcons play their first regular season game of 2007 on the road against the Saint Clair Saints on Wednesday, January 24 at 8pm.

Inconsistency leads to 5-3 record for women's volleyball
The Fanshawe Falcons might have to run the table in 2007 if they hope to win their fourth consecutive OCAA West division title. The Falcons have had an up-and-down first half of the season putting together a 5-3 record. Second year middle, Katie Seys is leading the Falcons and is second in the OCAA in scoring with 4.21 points per game. The Falcons play their first regular season game of 2007 on the road against the Saint Clair Saints on Wednesday, January 24 at 6pm.
