Lords hosting OCAA Basketball All-star games
Durham College is set to host the 20th Annual OCAA Basketball All-Star Game on Saturday, January 20. The event will also feature fan favourites such as the Spalding/T. Litzen Sports OCAA 3-Point Shootout, the OCAA 2-Ball Competition and the OCAA Best Mascot Competition.
The festivities will conclude with the Women's All-Star game at 6 p.m. and the Men's Game at 8:15 p.m. Both the Men and Women's games are set to be televised on Rogers Television in the Durham Region.
The games will also be streaming online at ocaa.com starting with the pre-game show at 5 pm. Fans in attendance will also have an opportunity to win $5,000 in the OCAA Spalding Shoot for Cash Contest. All events will be held at the Durham College Campus Athletic Centre.
Fanshawe hoop All-stars announced
Glen Johnston, head coach of the Falcon men's basketball team will be coaching the OCAA West All-Star team. Joining Johnston on the team are forward Pat Sewell and guard Omar Sybbliss. Representing the OCAA West division on the women's all-star team are Jessica Finlay and Penny Ackersviller.
Allard shines in badminton golden weekend
Centennial College played host to their annual Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 13 and Sunday, January 14. The Falcons' Nathaniel Allard captured gold in the men's singles, and gold in men's doubles with his partner Joe Games. The Falcons' Jenn Hayman and Jamye Sky won gold in the women's doubles competition. The team heads out to the Badminton Cambrian Open in Sudbury on January 19 to January 21 and another Badminton Tournament in Windsor on Jan 26 to January 28.
Fanshawe's own Mighty Falcon Squad have been cheering on the home team all season and will be appearing at the following games: Saturday, January 20 at Durham College in Oshawa. Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. right here at Fanshawe. The Basketball game is against Redeemer and will be televised on Rogers 13. Wednesday, January 31 at 6 p.m. and 8 pm against Lambton College. Every Monday the team will also be serving shooters at the Shack for Drinks with Dick.
