FSU elections on horizon

The second SAC meeting of this school year, which was held on Monday, January 22, opened with talk of the upcoming FSU executive elections. Nominations open for this election on February 23, 2007. You have probably seen the blue posters that have been placed around the school on the FSU bulletin boards, which contain the information you need if you would like to get involved.

Speaking of posters, hopefully you have seen the Dental Plan referendum posters around campus, and are planning to vote. This is just a reminder that voting is going to take place between January 30 and February 2. A secret incentive for voting was revealed on Monday's meeting: free toothbrushes and chocolate bars! Yes, chocolate bars! Remember to help your fellow students out by voting either yes or no, as in order for the referendum to count 20 per cent of the student population needs to vote.

The executives and SAC members are always trying to keep FSU awareness up. Did you know that the FSU Myspace website has over 250 members? If you are interested in visiting the site, here is the address, myspace.com/fanshawestudentunion.

According to Rubelyn Ubando, VP Athletics, the Fanshawe Men's basketball team is first and the Women's basketball team is third in their division.

On February 1, the Trailer Park Boys are coming to Fanshawe for a Q & A and autograph session in Forwell Hall. A Trailer Park Pub will follow this event. The cost is $5 per event, or both events for $8. Check out the online events calendar at www.fsu.on.ca for more details.

Several of the SAC members are still looking for enthusiastic students to be class representatives for their programs. If you are interested, be sure to contact your division representative immediately. Being a class representative is a great opportunity to get involved with FSU.
