Has ears, will listen
Constantly I rack my brain for ways to keep the students attention. Everyday I think “golly gee” how do I get these students to listen and frankly I haven't really come up with much.
The students here at Fanshawe have a couple of big events coming up really soon, including the dental referendum and FSU elections. Both of these events affect the student population in many different ways now and into the future. Don't forget you can always email the FSU office with ANY, and I repeat ANY, questions or concerns. If we can't help you, then we will find someone who can.
Both of these major events happening here at Fanshawe really do concern you. Yes you. No really, YOU! Think about it, ponder if you will. Take a few minutes, pour some tea and maybe munch on some biscuits. No matter how you relax I would like you to take the time to think about what is not just happening in your classroom, but all around you.
College should be one of the greatest, if not the best, memories of your life… next to your wedding day or something else that might be deemed important I suppose. None the less, your wedding day won't last two years or more. Think about that with some nice warm cocoa next to the fire. If you don't have a fireplace, download a fireplace screen saver for your new 32” inch monitor you purchased on eBay and crank up the heat.
How does the dental plan affect you? Good question, I'm glad you asked it!
Get a nice cleaning from a friendly neighbourhood dentist, or take out that pesky wisdom tooth which caused you to fail your last exam. You can do all your dental fun at a next to nothing price.
You are already covered you say? Wow, you have some great questions today! Don't worry you can opt-out like you can with your current health plan. All you need is proof that you're already covered in another plan and we will refund the cash money.
The FSU elections are your chance to choose proper leadership, to choose a proper voice and best of all to make a difference. Remember earlier when I was talking about memories and how important they are? You don't? Well I don't really either, but they are important and I truly believe that you control how great your experience will be. Having a problem around the school? Well the FSU is here to help. We can turn that frown upside down!
In all honestly we are students just like you. We want to help you but we can't help you unless you ask us for help. Every time I write in this paper I ask for students to email me with any concerns or even just for some info. And I have had a little over 30 emails. Thirty emails! This college has over 10,000 students and I have gotten about 30 emails! This is what I'm talking about.
