Sports Briefs - OCAA playoffs on horizon for Falcon teams

Men's hoops finish with perfect 14-0 record
The Fanshawe Falcon men's basketball team finished the OCAA regular season undefeated, 14-0, after defeating the St. Clair Saints 53-50 in the final regular season contest of the season. The Falcons will be the top seed in the OCAA championship tournament, which will be held at Durham College in the beginning of March. The Falcons also hold the third overall ranking in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association men's basketball rankings.

Knipe awarded by OCAA
Rookie forward for the Fanshawe Falcons women's basketball team Taylor Knipe, was named women's athlete of the week by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. Knipe has been a bright spot for the women's team who finished the regular season at 8-4, good for second place in the OCAA West division as of February 15. After defeating the St. Clair Saints 58-48 on February 13, the results of several games on the weekend will have determined the Falcons placement in the OCAA playoffs.

Final regular season games will determine women's fate
In a tight race in the OCAA West division, the Fanshawe Falcon women's volleyball team is in a battle with Niagara College and Redeemer College for top spot. The Falcons 9-5 record trails Niagara and Redeemer's 10-4 record overall but each team had one game remaining in the regular season. The Falcons traveled to Mohawk on February 15 while Niagara and Redeemer met each other in a battle for first place on the same night.
