Falcons badminton team wins gold at provincials

For the first time in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) history, two teams tied for first place at the OCAA badminton championship held at Centennial College from February 17 to February 18. The Fanshawe Falcons and the St. Clair Saints won the gold medal, ending the Cambrain Shield's run for an eighth consecutive overall title. Fanshawe and St. Clair tied with 20 points overall in the team competition to claim the duel gold medals.


Allard, Sky, and Hayman golden in OCAA badminton

Nathaniel Allard won his third consecutive OCAA championship in the men's singles competition at the OCAA badminton championships. Allard defeated Jonathan Paynter from Georgian College 2-0 to claim the gold medal. Jayme Sky and Jenn Hayman won the women's mixed doubles competition 2-1 over Emily Ko and Amily Lau from Seneca to claim the gold medal. Allard, Sky, and Hayman will join the rest of the OCAA champions at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national championships hosted by Douglas College in Richmond British Columbia from March 8 to March 10.

Men's basketball rank second heading into OCAA championships

After an undefeated regular season (14-0), the Fanshawe Falcon men's basketball team head into the OCAA championships with the hopes of continuing their undefeated streak. With the #2 ranking in the championship, the Falcons began their quest at a provincial title on Thursday March 1st when they travel to Durham College, who is played host for the tournament. The Falcons were led all season by guard/forward Pat Sewell who led the team with 15.46 points per game in the regular season, and rookie forward Jabari Cooper who averaged 14.36 points per contest in regular season play.

Women's basketball win cross-over match, earn playoff birth

After a 46-43 loss to the St. Clair Saints on January 17, the Fanshawe Falcons women's basketball team rattled off 6 straight wins including a 55-39 victory over Loyalist College on February 24 in a cross-over qualifying match to earn the Falcons a spot in the OCAA championships. The Falcons (8-4 in the regular season) participated in the OCAA Championships held at Algonquin College from March 1-3. The Falcons were led in the regular season by rookie forward Taylor Knipe (16.0 points per game) and 3rd year guard/forward Jessica Finlay (12.08 points per game).

Women's volleyball team narrowly miss spot in provincials

After dropping an OCAA championship qualifying match to the Cambrian Shield (3-1) on February 18, the Fanshawe Falcon women's volleyball team failed to earn a spot in the provincial championships. The Falcon's finished the regular season with a 10-5 record tying them with Redeemer for second place in the OCAA West division, however the Falcons could not get past Cambrian in the cross-over qualifying match. Leading the women all season was second-year middle, Katie Seys. Seys was named as a first team all-star in the OCAA Central West/West division after averaging 4.16 points per game for the Falcons.
