An estimated 125 people gathered in London's Victoria Park at noon on Sunday, March 11 to rally as part of a national day of action against climate change.

The “Rally for Kyoto” was organized by the local chapter of the “Council of Canadians”, and was intended to bring about awareness of the Conservative government's inaction on this important issue. Although ‘climate change' and environmental protection has surpassed health care as Canadian voters' primary concern, speakers argued that the Conservative Party of Canada continues to adopt an American-styled approach to this problem; fuelling it.

There was much criticism of the Conservative party for both their detrimental environmental policies, and for being the only party that did not care enough about this issue to participate in the rally.

Unlike the Conservatives, there were representatives of the Green party, the Liberal party, and the NDP involved and in attendance, stressing the need for a bipartisan approach to dealing with climate change. Many pointed out that this approach was the only way to ensure that party politics do not get in the way of solutions.
