The FSU has a new member in the SAC

Introducing your newest SAC representative! Allison Parkerye was officially voted in as the new SAC Representative for the Human Services division during the SAC meeting number 10, held on Monday, March 19. After presenting a short speech to the FSU executives and SAC representatives, Parkerye was unanimously voted in as the new Human Services Representative.

Do not forget about the 30-Hour Famine, which is going to take place during the last weekend of March. World Vision and the FSU are running this event, and it will help improve the quality of life for families all around the world. JP Renzella, VP Internal Affairs, and his planning team have put a huge amount of work into planning this event, which includes a London Transit Commission-based scavenger hunt around London, karaoke, sports, and a coffee house. It is also rumoured that this event could include a water balloon fight…weather permitting. If you are interested in attending, the 30-Hour Famine will take place over March 30-31 2007. Pledge forms are still available at the reception desk of SC2001.

Jason Wilton, Art and Design Representative, informed everyone of a very special event that he is currently working on. “Green Pride” is a yearly campus clean up that will occur on April 4, 2007, from 1-3 p.m. It is a combined effort between the Horticulture Technician and Tourism Hospitality departments. This is quite the undertaking, so be sure to thank your friends in these programs when you notice how great Fanshawe looks this spring!

The past week has been busy for Athletics at Fanshawe. Rubelyn Ubando, VP Athletics, reported that the men's basketball team finished fifth place of all of the colleges in Canada at a tournament that was held in Nova Scotia. The Mighty Falcons Dance Squad placed fifth and won the “Best New Team” award at a tournament that was held at Humber College this past week.

Two new clubs were approved during Monday's meeting. The first one, “One Love One Heart (For Africa)” is a club that plans to raise money to help people in Sudan. “The Dougies” is also fundraising-based club. Check the FSU website for more information on these clubs.

The meeting ended with new and very important business: FSU President Christine Thompson will be announcing the new FSU Executives on March 22, 2007 at 4 p.m. in Forwell Hall. If you miss out on this, be sure to check out the Interrobang or the FSU website to see your new Executives.
