Giving a head of hair for Locks of Love

For many students at Fanshawe College, they can see the end of the road for there is a few weeks left of school. Many of us will graduate this summer never to return again and others have a year or more left. Why not finish the year supporting your very own servers from the Out Back Shack?

On April 23 in Forwell Hall, Jen Carter and Ryan Colwell (a.k.a Moose from the Out Back Shack) are raising money for the Locks of Love foundation by cutting their hair. Although neither one is going to completely shave their head, they are going to cut their hair short based on donations. If we get a good group of people out and collect a solid amount of money for this cause, they will allow management to cut their hair.

But wait, it doesn't end here. If any of you want to join in on the fun and cut your hair for cancer, you are more than welcome. We invite everyone to participate for the money is going to a great cause.

To have your hair donated it must be no less than ten inches long and cannot be a wig, falls or synthetic hair. Also, your hair must be clean, dry and in a pony tail or braid. Hair may be coloured or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged. Curley hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum ten inches and layered hair be divided into multiple pony tails for donations. To find more about these guidelines, please visit the Locks of Love web page. (www.locksoflove.org)

Many of us have friends and relatives who have been diagnosed with cancer and this is a great way to show your support for them. Donations will be accepted, small and large, at the Out Back Shack from now until April 23. We will be accepting donations the day of the hair cuts as well. If we collect enough money, some of the proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Society as well.

This is a great way to kick off your summer vacation knowing that you have contributed to a great cause. Hope to see you all there.
