Vegan options at Zen Gardens

If you're getting sick from eating a diet consisting of fast food and processed meat, or from being a french-fry vegetarian, or even if you just can't go out for dinner because restaurants neglect to serve any vegan options, Zen Gardens is your cure.

Centrally located at 344 Dundas St. in downtown London, Zen Gardens is the only restaurant in town that is currently serving primarily vegan, and exclusively vegetarian dishes.

Zen Gardens is known in the vegetarian community as the establishment that has magically found a way of giving soy steak and soy chicken an eerily similar taste and texture to meat. But if mock-meat isn't you're thing, Zen Gardens also has a wide array of dishes for those who wish to eat something more traditional, such as sweet and sour lappa, or Enoki mushroom balls (delicious), and for those who are less adventurous, vegetable fried rice.

Although the main entrees are sometimes large enough to feed two and reasonably priced ($7.99-$13.50) most guests order combination platters, which are a bit more pricy ($15.99 for dinner) but come with green tea, purple rice, salad, spring roll, soy nuggets, dessert and one of a large variety of satisfying entrees. Well worth the extra money if you've just received your OSAP.

If Green Tea isn't your cup of tea there are many other teas available, including bubble teas and other healthy drinks. Coffee and alcohol are not served because as stimulants they may interfere with your inner peace.

Zen Gardens pairs the delicious food with the appropriate atmosphere for peaceful relaxation. A small waterfall greets you with the sound of running water at the entrance, and soothing, instrumental, oriental music plays softly as you dine in a cozy and well-decorated dining room. To top it all off, the waitresses are cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly.

Open for lunch and dinner everyday, Zen gardens is a dining experience unlike any other.
