Buckle up in remembrance of Jolene
RE: “Student dies in vehicle accident.” October 15, 2007

In regards to Jolene Unwin, the student that was killed in the vehicle accident on October 9, I just wanted to send a message out to everyone.

I was living with Jolene this year and she had just started a life on her own and it was ended way to soon and tragically. Jolene most likely would still have been alive if she would have buckled up and had been driving slower for the condition of the road. Basically, I just want everyone to understand that seatbelts CAN save lives and to slow down. No one is invincible. And I don't want anyone else to have to go through the pain of losing someone you love which could have been easily avoidable.
Thanks.

RE: Issue No.12, November 5, 2007 Sports coverage

I wanted to write the paper because I think it is a great newspaper and I think it has to be one of the best in all of Ontario. In the last paper (Issue No.12 November 5, 2007) you have articles with the soccer team finishing short of a medal and the cross country team doing very well, but you do not see anything about the badminton team who brought home three gold medals in women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and two silvers men's singles, women's doubles. With many semi final finishes as well.

I understand that badminton is not the most popular of the sports in Canada and that is to bad, but Fanshawe is #1 in Ontario for this sport and should have been at least given a write-up for all of their hard work and how they represented their school.

Thank you for the chance to write and once again INTEROBANG is my # 1 paper.

RE: Fanshawe College graduation ceremony, November 2, 2007

I have to admit that I was very impressed with this year's graduation ceremonies. I was in the afternoon ceremony, but was in school pretty much all day. I saw how organized the school was throughout the day and even talked to a couple of the volunteers.

My colleagues were also very along with our families with the set up in the gym, Forwell Hall, and even in the hallway. I have to give props to the people that organized this day. I know they don't get enough praise and glory for all the things they do, and I know it takes a small amount of time to say thank you!!! Graduation was very touching (yes I'm a man and I just said touching) and it definitely left a mark on us graduates.

I do have a couple of suggestions for future improvements...

1. Waiting to go in the ceremony was way too long (they should have little fun games or activities that graduates can participate in while waiting.)

2. It was hard to find my family after grad (maybe an announcement letting us know how it all works would help?).

3. Have more good-looking girls working in the gym (well there was a few... I think her name was Sarah and this other girl Rubelyn).

4. Have the student president of the college write out a decent speech. (He should try and really reach out to the student body).

5. I'm not sure if it's possible to have entertainment before graduation for the parents that are waiting in the gym (maybe a comedian?).

Those are the only ones we noticed that could use some improvements. Other than that we all thought graduation was fantastic. I am a very proud graduate of Fanshawe College and I have my teachers, my friends, my family and of course the volunteers that set up graduation to thank for! So for one last time: THANK YOU!
