Lindros' donates to Fowler

Former NHL all-star Eric Lindros' donation of $5 million to the Fowler-Kennedy Clinic will shoot funds at the Fanshawe clinic on campus.

Lindros, famous as much for his concussion problems as for his hockey skills, announced the donation hand-in-hand with his acceptance of the position of NHL Players' Association ombudsman at a press conference on November 8.

“He's had a great deal of medical care at the clinic throughout his entire career,” said Dr. Lisa Fischer, the Director of Primary Care Sport Medicine who works at the Fanshawe branch. “Dr. Fowler was an integral part of his care and Eric wanted to pay back some of that and thought of the donation.”

The money will go mainly towards completing the Legacy Pavillion, a joint venture between London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care, which is now being called the Lindros Legacy Pavilion.

“Part of its going to go towards the Pavillion,” explained Dr. Fischer. “Which is going to house the Sandy Kirkley research chair - another research initiative. Another part of it will go to the Fowler-Kennedy clinic professorship.”
