After years of playing gigs in and around London, including taking to the stage in Forwell Hall several times, and a name change, The Joys have reached gold status with their latest single, which includes tracks from their up coming release “Unfold.”

The Joys are a local London band consisting of members Sarah Smith (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Mike Mckyes (Lead Guitar), Ken Ross (Bass) and Glen “Archie” Gamble (Drums). They are an indie rock and roll band, with a killer leading lady. I was lucky enough to have been invited to their celebration of their recent GOLD single presentation party. It was a great night for the Joys as they were presented with their gold records. They accepted them humbly and thanked everyone that has helped them along the way. They mixed and mingled with the media and fans afterwards, answering all questions and ensuring they talked to everyone.

They have been labeled:

- “Best Live Act” 2007 Toronto Indie Awards

- “Best Pop / Rock Act” 2004, 2005, 2006, & 2007 London Music Awards

- “Group Of The Year” 2007 London Music Awards

- “Best Female Fronted Band” TIMA 2007

The Joys have sold 19,000 copies of their single, and have played shows with musicians such as Robert Plant, Matthew Good, K-OS, Finger Eleven, The Miniatures, The Trews, Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, Sloan, Edwin, David Wilcox. After the award party, they played a show at Norma Jean's.

If you haven't had a chance to see the Joys perform live, you are missing one hell of a show. These guys have such an energy while performing, they get you moving to the music.
