College coffee table book finds no dust, flies off shelves

Barely on sale for over a month, the college's vanity coffee table book highlighting the campus as it is today has gone into a second printing after overwhelming demand prior to the Christmas holiday break saw the book sell-out.

“The demand for this book has exceeded expectations beyond what we had anticipated,” said a college spokesperson, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “We never anticipated the number of students who would actually buy this book would be so high.”

A retail services employee theorized that the book found its way under many Christmas trees this year.

“I noticed a lot of young men picking up the book at the conclusion of exam week,” said Ole Henriksen. “I asked why they would want this book and the feedback I was getting back made me believe it was panic present buying. I'm guessing there were more than a few disappointed girls this Christmas. The kicker is that these books are nonrefundable. Double whammy.”

The $40 book had an initial print run of 5,000 books, but the college hasn't yet decided how many copies they will have printed now.

“We may print an additional 5,000, especially since we think the demand is there,” said the college spokesperson. “We think we can make the New York Times best seller list with this second run.
