All-Stars to descend on Fanshawe

Fanshawe to host charity basketball game in July

For the second consecutive year Fanshawe is set to play host to the country's best basketball players for a charity event.

“It's all about raising funds for the two organizations,” said Jason Perry, the event coordinator. “This is the second year Fanshawe has been involved, they hosted it last year too, and will probably host it next year as well. We've gotten a lot of support in the area, last year Rogers Television was even involved.”

The fourth annual All-Star Charity Shootout will showcase 20 of this years' college and university all-stars from across the country.

The players will be split into two teams, each representing a charity, with the premise that the winning team gets to donate 60 per cent of the day's fundraising to their charity, whereas the losing team will have raised 40 per cent for their charity.

“Both charities are worthy organizations,” Perry continued. “We're hoping that it's even better than last year, and are expecting a lot more support and event coverage at this years event.”

The YMCA (London) will be taking on last year's winning charity, the London Children's Museum, who defeated the Kid's Help Phone 110-98 in 2007.

The event will take place in the J-Gym on July 5, 2008, at 5 p.m. and will also be broadcast live on Rogers Television. For more information visit www.allstarcharityshootout.com.
