He wants you...to get involved

And it begins!

Yes, it's now the year you will all be talking about in 50 years when you turn old and are in a retirement home with the same people you met right here at Fanshawe College.

This past summer has been non-stop for the FSU executives and I, we have been ensuring that you have the time of your life as you complete or begin your studies at Fanshawe.

Let me tell you what's going on throughout the first couple weeks and how you can get involved with the Student Union.

Frosh Week is going to be jam packed with stuff to do. You can check out comics in the afternoon, amazing concerts and pubs at night, as well as a blanket drive-in in the courtyard. Check pages 22 and 23 of the Interrobang for detailed times and dates for every event in the first two weeks of school.

There are also tons of ways to get involved with the Student Union. First off, we have two executive positions, VP Internal and VP Finance, still open. If you want to run for either position then stop by the office in SC2001 and pick up a nomination form (Nominations open Monday, September 15, 2008 and close Friday, September 26, 2008. Election voting dates are Wednesday, October 8 and Thursday, October 9).

Now if the executive position is too much commitment and you would like something a little less demanding then we have our Student Administrative Council (SAC) positions open for the taking. SAC members are elected divisional positions that filter information to and from the students in your division. The SAC election will be held the same time as the executive positions so hurry to SC2001 to grab a nomination sheet.

Now if you want something a little less lucrative yet fun, hip and where people will still know who you are then I suggest you apply for the Fanshawe Underground Crew, aka the FU Crew. This group will work hand in hand with Jeff Burling, our VP of Entertainment, in planning, organizing and promoting all Student Union events. If you want to apply for this go to our website www.fsu.ca and fill out an application. Notice that spots for this club are very limited and we are looking for the most out going and crazy people at Fanshawe.

If you are just looking to join a club and participate at events, then get involved with the new Fanshawe Fanatics who will check out Varsity home games, cheer them on and will get some certain perks for signing up. If you are interested in this contact Lauren Walton the VP of Athletics to get involved. If you want to start a club or see what clubs there are to join, check out our club fair on Wednesday, September 17 in F Corridor.

This is going to be the best time of your life, get out there, get involved; meet people because college is supposed to be the best time of your life and, trust me, it will be. Let's make it happen together.
