It's LOLA time
If you want to check out the best London has to offer in visual art and music now is your chance.
The London Ontraio Live Arts festival, known better as LOLA kicks off September 18, with various locations around London showcasing local, national and international talent in music and visual arts.
“It will take about 90 minutes to see everything downtown, basically between Wellington and Rideout, Central to York you're going to catch something from LOLA,” laughs Andrew Francis who is the festival director of LOLA.
LOLA started in October 2006, when Francis and his team noticed that there was a demand for something different in the London Arts community. The weekend-long event will showcase music that is not trendy, but something that is genre defining and that people will be listening to years down the road.
Francis estimates that over 100,000 people follow LOLA, which is hard to track because the festival takes place in the downtown core of London.
The Visual aspect of LOLA is based around music culture. Pieces of art inspired by song lyrics, cd liner notes and band names will be projected on the side of buildings, billboards, neon signs and posters in the core of London.
This year LOLA will also feature an organic fruits and veggies stand and the entire event will be ecologically friendly.
All outdoor events are free to the public. Check out the maps and other details available at lolafest.com
