Winter week is getting a new line up this year and a unique Fringe-worthy nooner all the way from Germany will take the SUB stage.

On Tuesday, January 27, in Forwell Hall the FSU is proud to present in the first of two live shows in London of “Die Roten Punkte” Berlin's Prince and Princess of Punk, who are returning to Canada for their “Robot/Lion Tour 2009”. The act features Otto and Astrid, who deliver their original brand of ridiculous rock n' roll. This unusual brother/sister band inspired by The Carpenters, The Osmond's and The White Stripes features indie-rock extravagance meets character driven comedy with absurd songs in this physically driven musical mosh-pit. A monster gig with actual mini instruments.

Described as a “lipstick-smeared, narcissistic tantrum-loving, sonic collision between Plastic Bertrand, Kraftwerk and early Ramones”. Otto & Astrid Rot arrive just in time to celebrate the release of their new single “Ich Bin Nicht Ein Roboter (I Am a Lion)” from their new CD “Super Musikant”.

During their sold out 2008 summer tour of Canada this minimalist indie rock act won the “Centaur Theatre Best English Production” award - Montreal Fringe, “Most Outstanding Production” - Ottawa Fringe, “Best of Fest” — Winnipeg Fringe and “Best Comedy” — Victoria Fringe Festival.

Die Roten Punkte are truly unique. The songs are infectious and their live show is one of the most irreverent and hilarious gigs you are ever likely to experience. I suggest you see for yourself at myspace.com/dierotenpunkte

The FSU will present a FREE shortened version of their “Robot/Lion Tour 2009” show at noon in Forwell Hall as part of our Winter Week “Get Sleighed” activities. They will be doing their complete show on Thursday night at The Music Hall in London.
