Time to get involved

If you are interested in getting involved with the College Student Alliance (CSA), now is the time to do it. Nominations to be on Fanshawe's Student Union next year are now open. Members of the student union work closely with CSA and student unions of other colleges all over Ontario.

The first CSA conference I went to was in May. I went to Brampton and stayed at the residence at Sheridan College for an entire week to meet members of other student unions across Ontario, to learn about CSA, and to be better prepared for my position as VP External. We also got to meet the Finance Minister and ask him questions about how government funds are being spent on post secondary education.

The next CSA conference was for four days in October in Windsor. I had my brain stuffed with all kinds of information regarding Bill 90, multi-year accountability agreements, ancillary fees, and, of course, the issues that were brought up at the November 5, National Day of Action.

The next CSA conference is this conference in Kitchener. Every conference is definitely a learning experience for me as well as for other colleges. The great thing about CSA is that we have the opportunity to learn from each other and stand together when important changes need to be made.

If you are interested in getting involved with the CSA, run for student union. Nominations are now open, stop by the student union office in SC2001 and pick up a nomination form.
