Student dies in snowmobile crash

A snowmobile accident has claimed a young life of a Fanshawe student.

Michael Lutowicz, 21, a fourth-year Business student, was killed Friday, February 6 at approximately 9:20 pm while riding his snowmobile.

According to Strathroy-Caradoc police, the snowmobile he was driving on the shoulder of Adelaide Road near Richard Crescent crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming vehicle.

The car went out of control when it proceeded to hit another vehicle.

Lutowicz was pronounced dead at the scene while the drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries.

The popular online networking website Facebook has been dedicated in Lutowicz's memory.

“An amazing person who loved every second of life. I don't think I remember a time where you weren't smiling. I am a better person for just have knowing someone like you,” wrote Maggie Timmers, a friend of Lutowicz, on the online memorial.

Marketing and Communications at Fanshawe would like to advise students that Counseling and Student Life is available to provide support for anyone in need.

Staff may also use the services of our Employee Assistance Program and may contact Human Resources for assistance.

Funeral service was held on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Lutowicz are asked to consider World Vision - Sponsor a Child, or the charity of your choice. Online condolences accepted at condolences@westviewfuneralchapel.com.
