A Mesh of new and vintage

What's better; the creative authenticity of a vintage item or the perfectly tailored fit of a new garment? With Creole Vintage, you don't have to choose. Designer Laura Acosta and photographer Nicole Venegas create garments that marry both favourable qualities to bring their dear customers totally innovative designs that fit like a glove.

What is it that makes these young entrepreneurs stand out? As the designers put it, their clothing is a mixture of post modern pastiche with ethnic inspirations. A tailor and a photographer in love with their heritage and nostalgic about a past they never lived. Collectors and modifiers of beautiful clothes brought especially for you; the commodity fetishist, the reflexive nostalgic.

Creole Vintage has recently launched their collection at Mesh boutique, a stellar vintage consignment retailer located just off Richmond St - the perfect space for anything but cookie cutter clothing.

Their fashion has received wide acceptance and is selling out just as quickly as it's hitting the racks. Last week, a trunk show was held at Mesh, during the boutique's blow out sale, to showcase Creole's latest goods. The store floor was flooding with London's most stylish; shopping, socializing and admiring the collection. Lace-clad dresses, printed minis, vintage lace up oxfords and feather embellished hair combs were among the top sellers. I even managed to scoop up an adorable tribal print mini!

Creole is not all Mesh has to offer. It's abundantly stocked with great finds-unlike your typical second-hand store, you don't have to sift through loads of rubbish to find a true gem. Shop both men and women's ‘pre-loved' designer labels like Diesel, Seven, Rock & Republic, BCBG, Ben Sherman, Lactose and Diane Von Furstenberg without the frilly price tag. Stock up on great handmade accessories from headbands and broaches to hand painted vintage leather clutches.

An incredible selection of merchandise is not the only thing that sets Mesh apart from other vintage stores. They recently offer a new service to aid their shoppers with vintage shopping- in store alterations. With this new addition, they strive to help their customers ‘fix an oldie, but a goodie or create a new masterpiece.' Just one of the many ways Mesh boutique specializes in making vintage a breeze for anybody to pull off.
