Do you love playing hockey? Miss the competitiveness?? The adrenaline rush?

Well Fanshawe has just the right league for you...Intramural Men's Ice Hockey League. The league starts at the end of October and ends in March every year, therefore giving you something to do every week to give you a break from homework and partying. Each team plays about once a week, and all teams make the first round of playoffs.

This year we had the most teams ever, 37, which means that there were over 600 guys in our school that played hockey in over 300 games throughout the season. The best team at the end of regular season was ‘Carey's Army' (13-0-1) followed closely by ‘Peter North Stars' (13-2-0) and ‘Oaktown' (12-2-1).

‘Carey's Army' also came out on top when it came to number of goals scored, 84, but ‘Peter North Stars' and ‘Snipping G's' came in a close second and third with 81 and 77 goals respectively.

The stats for least goals against didn't change much from the goals for and overall standings, with ‘Carey's Army' still on top once again with 18 goals against, trailed by ‘Peter North Stars' and ‘Oaktown' with 25 and 31 goals against respectively.

Every year we also make an extramural team that gets to travel to various OCAA tournaments throughout Ontario. The team is picked from students that play within the Fanshawe Intramural Men's Ice Hockey League. This year the team competed in three tournaments where they placed second in both the Fanshawe 3-on-3 Tournament in January and in the Conestoga Tournament in February, and gave a good showing in the Humber Tournament in November.

Thank you to everyone, players, time keepers, referees and of course the arena staff for all the hard work that was put into the league this year. I know that both Ernie and I appreciate all the dedication that everyone has towards this league. I hope you all enjoyed your year and that we'll see you again next year at the same time and same place for another good year of hockey!!
