A fond farewell, el presidente

Holy Smokes!!! The year is coming to an end and wow did it go by fast. It seems like yesterday I was campaigning and getting into office. But time flies when you are having fun and working hard and let me tell you your Student Union worked extremely hard this year! For you the Students!! So this article here is about what we did all year and who I have to thank along the way. First I will start off with what we accomplished in one year's time.

Accomplishments
1. Frosh Week (I will speak to more of this later)
2. Perfect Party
3. FU Crew and Events
4. Environment
5. Financial Marketing Team
6. Bus Pass Agreement
7. Photography Agreement
8. Health Plan Agreement
9. Curling
10. CSA provincial and federal Advocacy
11. Voter Turnout

When I look back this year's group has accomplished a lot but we have helped each other along the way and had help from some very key people as well. First I want to thank the executive and the amazing jobs they did this year.

Rachel Oakes was our VP of External and Academic Affairs and I want to thank her for her amazing contribution throughout the year. She was instrumental in CSA affairs and getting involved. She helped many students with academic appeals. Her consistency was a huge factor in ensuring that everyone was on the same page and was a tremendous help to me throughout the year. Thank you very much Rachel and good luck in the future.

Lauren Walton was our VP of Athletics and her input in all meetings this year helped everyone else around the table. She was a key part into bringing back curling and continuing the consistent job the VP of Athletics has done in the past two years. I know she will move on and use this experience to do some amazing things in her life. Thank you Lauren.

Nick Austin was our VP of Finance this past year and he started late, but his work ethic and drive made up for the missed months. His ability to improve the Financial Marketing Team in such a short time was amazing to see. He consistent drive to be a part of making student life better is refreshing to see and I hope he applies that drive to everything else he does in his life. Good Luck and keep up the good work Nick.

Rob McGarry was our VP of Internal Affairs and he also started late. He was what I like to call the silent assassin (lol). He was the guy working hard behind the scenes on the weekends ensuring he was able to do his job to the best of his ability, and it showed. The man has a tonne on his plate, but still came up to bat every time to hit a home run. This kid is going places look out for Rob.

Jeff Burling was our VP of Entertainment and if you don't know this guy it's a shame. This is an all around amazing individual that has great personal skills as well as work ethic. This guy did something no other VP of Entertainment was able to do, and that's raise over $10,000 for your frosh week and put on amazing events throughout the year. If you didn't attend any of the events we put on you definitely missed out because they were top notch! I would wish Jeff best of luck, but he doesn't need it he is already a great success and will continue to build on it.

SAC I want to thank you all for your participation over the year because without you guys we wouldn't be able to make the really tough decisions on students behalf.

Now I need to thank my office staff that has been a huge part in this year's success. First I want to thank Paul Masse, without this guy I would have been a horrible leader and most likely would have been kicked out as president. HE is the true glue of the FSU and he continues to have a student first mentality that helps drive the FSU. Thank you Paul!

Second I want to the Carol Balzer for her everyday efforts as well her ability to keep us all in line around the office. She is a huge part of our operations and without her our health plan would blow. Thanks MOM!

Third I want to thank John Young for all of his work over the years and the knowledge that he possesses because it only helps every group that comes in every year. Your knowledge is the key to the FSU's success thank you very much.

Brandy have fun with the new family I will miss you.

James you are my boy and we will stay in touch for many years to come.

Now I have to thank some other people, (I know you are probably tired of hearing me thank people, but I don't care this is my last article so suck it lol) I want to thank all of the staff and managers that worked so hard in the Oasis and the Out Back Shack. Every single one of you has left a lasting impression on me and it is refreshing to see such great people work in one place. You are all a true inspiration. Special thanks to Tina for being a bright spot in my day your attitude is contagious. Thank you to all the Interrobang staff you have been amazing, I don't know how you all do it sometimes. Keep up the good work and good luck in the future.

Now I would like to thank all the Fanshawe College administration, faculty and support staff. You are the true grease to the wheels of Fanshawe College. Thank you for your continued support and understanding that we are all here because of students. Thank you Howard for your true wisdom and the advice you have given over the two years I have been here. Thank you Cathie for being you and helping me understand the college side of things better. Thank you to Bernice for being there when we had issues in the city and helping me with community messages. Thank you Joy for all your work over the years you are the true meaning of a student focused leader. Thank you to Lane our new VP academic you have shown a huge interest and hard work ethic in understanding student needs and it shows that with Joy being gone that Fanshawe is in good hands. Thank you to Scott for handling the colleges finances in a professional manner that only helps students in the long run. Thank you Emily for working with me throughout the year and help me become a great community speaker and helping me understand creating a great message for all to hear.

Now I want to thank all the students for being a part of my Presidency and involvement over the two years I was involved. You guys are why we are here, we are here to make your life easier, better and more successful from when you walked in this door. I have created many great friendships along the way and I hope to continue to create more as I move forward. You have made my college experience the best it could ever be.

Thank you to the people closest to me that supported me along the way you know who you are and I don't need to say names. But you kept my head up when it was down and showed me that hard work pays off. You are my inspiration and drive and will always be, thank you very much AV.

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank our receptionist Laya Birtch for all her continued hard work in helping me every day with small tasks. You are the shining light of our office and you make all students feel welcome. You complete me.

I will miss my time I spent here but I am ready for the next steps in my career I wish you all the best of luck and good fortune in the future. Without everyone here I wouldn't be the person I am today.

THANK YOU ALL

Your Friendly Neighborhood President signing off!!

Peace Homies!
