JLC shock rocked by Manson

Marilyn Manson rolled into the Forest City on Saturday September 19th to promote his latest released album “We're From America” at the John Labatt Centre.

He came on stage as the curtain dropped to expose the American flag with a lighting bolt through it and a blast of fog, the crowd went wild as the band cranked it into high-voltage. London is in for a treat.

At 40 years of age Manson has been criticized for his lack of enthusiasm onstage. There was no doubt that he is still the ringmaster of his own rock circus.

“A real performer and showman” claimed Jean Eagleson, a long time fan of his work who took in the show.

Manson had many theatrics up his sleeves from needing an oxygen mask to screaming into a video camera, which followed him on stage. Not to mention the countless wardrobe changes which included a jacket, which sported HELL ETC. on the back and his many top hats.

The turnout for the concert was smaller than expected as they used the smaller RBC Theater setup at the JLC. That did not stop anyone from being blown away from the technical effects on stage with real candles lit for the song that made his start, Sweet Dreams, to the explosion of confetti for the crowd pleaser encore, The Beautiful People. Though Manson was claiming he had a sore throat, if he hadn't mentioned it, one might not have realized anything was amiss.

Toronto sleaze rock band Die Mannequin also played the JLC before hand, giving a polished feel to their first Canadian tour and got the crowd ready for the Prince of Darkness.
