His first self-titled solo album, Gurrumel, is making headway as Yunupingu exudes raw talent that engages listeners on every level.

The songs are a soothing blend of profound lyrics that pull the listener right in with soft back up instrumental melodies.

Yunupingu was born on Elcho Island, off the coast of Arnhem Land, Northern Australia about 350 miles from Darwin. He is from the Gumatj clan of the Yolngu.

His enchanting music will leave you with goose bumps as each song is played from start to finish.

Yunupingu has a story to tell that he effortlessly incorporates into each and every one of his songs. Each is unique in their own right with a message that can captivate even the most skeptical of listeners.

He was born blind, has never learned Braille and does not have a guide dog nor does he use a cane to assist him while walking.

Only two songs in the album are sung in English, although a listener would never be able to tell the difference.

Yunupingu speaks only a few words of English.

Aside from having a soulful yet soft singing voice, Yunupingu plays drums, keyboards and a guitar that he plays upside down since he is left handed.

The first guitar he was given was strung for a right-hander.

His soft melodic voice is what has him earned incredible reviews around the globe.

The album is a timeless masterpiece sung with beautiful passion through the art of song.
