Hyde Park Scarecrow Fest – Oct 17

The Hyde Park Scarecrow Fest, sponsored by the Rotary Club of London-Hyde Park, will be held on Saturday, October 17, in Hyde Park.

The day will be filled with fun as Londoners enjoy activities designed for the entire family.

The following is a break down of the days' events.

Honourable Chris Bentley, MPP will visit at 11:45 am.

Pancake Breakfast combined with mini Bazaar at Hyde Park United Church: 8 a.m.— noon tickets are available by calling: 519-657-4757

Scarecrow colouring contest: All artists are encouraged to submit their best piece of artwork as entries will be displayed at Hyde Park United Church during the Pancake Breakfast.

Rotary Club yard sale — 9 a.m.

Buckle-a-Bear baby car seat clinic at The Co-operators: 9 a.m. — 11 a.m. An appointment is required

Amazing Scavenger Race: Get your passport at the registration tent between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. To qualify for regular draws, you must have your passport stamped by eight businesses and have the correct answers in order to win.

To qualify for the Super Draw, you must have your passport stamped by all businesses and have the correct answers.

Regular draws at 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m.; 2:30 p.m. and Super Draw at 2:45 p.m.

Prizes for kids and adults. Total value of prize is worth $800.

Carved Pumpkin Contest: Entries to be dropped off at the registration tent between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Judging at 11:30 a.m.

Sidewalk Parade of Scarecrow Costumes at Noon. For all ages.

BBQ: 11 a.m. — 2 p.m. — Lion's Club Afternoon Tea: 12:30 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. Church of the Hosannas

Aikido Martial Art demonstration at 12:30 p.m.

Among specific listed activities, there will be scarecrow displays throughout Hyde Park to enjoy with the family. Live entertainment along with additional displays will make for a wonderful day out with the entire family.

Children in particular are encouraged to participate in the coloring contest, the pumpkin carving contest, walk in the parade of costumes and also to find clues to children questions in the Amazing Scavenger Race.
