Couples Retreat a good laugh for all

Couples Retreat (2009)

Couples Retreat begins with an intriguing introduction, and a quick look into the everyday lives of four married couples. The story unravels with some seemingly harmless interactions between the couples that reflect how their relationship works on a daily basis.

When one of the couples propose a “couple therapy retreat” the others are hesitant, but decide to go along when they are assured that they wouldn't have to participate in the therapeutic sessions. Little do they know, however, that they are put on an island where they will be forced to partake in some deep and quite humorous relationship building activities. Each couple discovers the problems that lay within their own relationships as they try to overcome some challenging obstacles.

Vince Vaughn was the shining star in this movie. His acting and comedy outshone the other characters, who were quite funny as well, but got a little bland after a while. His mixture of comedy with emotional acting was entertaining and left the viewer satisfied.

The yoga instructor, Salvatore, was by far the most entertaining character in the movie and produced some good chuckles from the audience as he helped the individual couples to perform some interesting yoga moves with a very hands-on approach.

It was nice to see Kristen Davis in a role besides Sex and the City, and she played it very well. She definitely grew away from the innocent Charlotte York character in this film and replaced it with a more mature yet rebellious character.

The scenery in the film was absolutely stunning and gave the viewer more eye candy than just Salvatore, while the soundtrack was certainly pleasing to any classic rock fan.

This movie is the absolute perfect date movie. The men will enjoy it for it's funny scenes and dirty humour, while the women will be moved by the touching romantic scenes and heart-felt dialogue. All the while, this movie gives great relationship advice and will inspire the best from any couple watching.

Ladies, make sure you bring your boyfriend/husband to see this movie. They will be so distracted by the entertaining comedy in it that they won't realize they are being exposed to subliminal messages about how to make a relationship work. Afterwards you are guaranteed to have a better appreciation for each other encouraged by the film.

What a fun, feel-good movie with a great moral and an all around easy watch.
