NFL Czar: Monday night showdown

In the vast history of Monday Night Football, there have been several memorable moments. For me, one of the biggest games ever was the epic Dallas Cowboys — Buffalo Bills game a few years ago. You all remember. Tony Romo had six turnovers in the game, yet the Cowboys won it on a last second field goal.

Now, we embark on possibly the best game ever to grace the Monday night slot. The New England Patriots take their show into New Orleans to take on the offensive juggernaut Saints.

Let's set the scene here. Both teams have massive leads in their respective division races, yet this game will still be important. The Patriots are fighting for a possible bye week in the AFC playoffs, while the Saints are working on home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Both teams have an unnecessary amount of talent on them, and this should be very fun to watch.

Key Matchups

1. Tom Brady vs. Drew Brees: Almost as good as Brady — Peyton Manning, but these guys don't face each other every year. Each QB has stellar weapons around him, and this should be a shootout from the very beginning.

2. Reggie Bush vs. Inconsistency: Bush has certainly not lived up to the hype that was bestowed upon him coming out of Southern California. However, the fourth-year pro has shown glimpses of talent throughout the year, and now must take this running game on his back and become an elite talent.

3. Randy Moss vs. Marques Colston: The top wide receivers for each squad will be the focus of this shootout. Moss provides problems for defences with his height and speed, while Colston has amazing hands and route-running skills.

The Rundown

What a game this will be. I expect a lot of points, but the Saints defence could slow the Patriots attack down. I see the Saints taking this game at home, by a score of 45-38. I pick this way only because the Patriots spoiled my perfect record against the Colts.

Side note: Be sure to catch the trifecta of games on the American Thanksgiving. So, for the holiday, here are some bonus picks: Green Bay Packers, Cowboys and New York Giants.

The playoff races are heating up, and next week, we travel to the NFC East for a massive showdown between hated rivals. For more from the NFL Czar, check out his blog at jvzsblog.blogspot.com.
