Another stunning Victoria's Secret show

The annual Victoria's Secret fashion show, circa 2001, is one of the most fabulously anticipated fashion shows of the year and this year was no exception.

The 2009 show hosted by Heidi Klum featured some of the most extravagant lingerie designs yet, incredible circus inspired antics and a performance by the Black Eyed Peas.

Heidi KlumThe fanstastic Klum, who has been a Victoria's Secret angel since 1999, was marking her 10th anniversary with the retailer. Klum welcomed the crowd into a fantastical world of fairy tales and acrobats, feathered wings and bedazzled corsets.

The official themes of the show were titled Romantic Journey, Enchanted Forest, Star Trooper and Pink Planet. Romantic Journey featured a series of fairy princess- inspired outfits exploding with lace. The Enchanted Forest featured some incredible feathers and furs, showcasing surreal lingerie. Star Trooper included breastplates and body armour, whereas Pink Planet went boho-chic. The Victoria's Secret Angels, who are among the world's best-paid models, showed off some of the sexiest undergarments in the world with the most heartbreakingly beautiful shoes and various accessories.

The current line up of Angels includes Klum, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Marisa Miller, Doutzen Kroes and anticipated newcomer, Behati Prinsloo.

There were of course other notable names on the runway, including one of my favourite models, Chanel Iman. Klum only made one appearance on the runway, in an incredible purple corset and skirt of seemingly endless tiers of tulle.

She was, of course, the talk of the night, mainly due to the fact that it was merely six weeks ago that she gave birth to her fourth child and second daughter, Lou Sulola Samuel. Her stunning body and quick transformation back into a flawless beauty with a flat tummy shocked everyone and surely had new mothers around the world fuming with jealousy.

Some reoccurring trends of the night included various funky wedge heels, feathers and furs, thigh-high boots (of course) and lots of jewels. The bedazzled corsets and jewelry were so glamorous, especially the famous Fantasy Bra, worn by Miller this year. The Fantasy Bra is headlining the multi-million dollar headling piece in each years show and every year one of the lucky angels is selected to wear it.

This year Miller donned the exquisite diamond studded bra worth $3-million designed by Damiani Jewellers. Miller stated it was a huge honour to wear the bra this year for her first time.

Between the acrobats and antics, (one model was literally lifted into the air while clutching a handful of bright red balloons) there was a performance by the Black Eyed Peas. Fergie wore an incredible corset and gown in a deep green shade and showed off her stunning legs (and vocals).

Some of my not so favourite aspects of the show were the balloon wings and tails. I'm much more of a fan of the classic feathered angel wings and deep earth-toned corsets than the fun childlike ensembles showcasing every colour of the rainbow. Also questionable were the knitted tuques; a little pointless for a model to don along with lingerie but that's just me thinking practically.

Although the show has not yet been released for full viewing (it will air on CBS December 1) there are a ton of stunning photos of the event and even without attending the show first hand I feel that Victoria's Secret did an incredible job of letting us all take a peek into their crazy world - a world of fantasy, fashion, and the most strikingly gorgeous women in the world.
