Lola launches concert series for 2010

For the fourth consecutive year, Lola is launching what is expected to be an unforgettable concert series.

Beginning Friday, January 22, Lola presents its 2010 concert series at Museum London along side Australian jazz trio The Necks and special guest Todor from Toronto.

According to Paul Walde, artistic director for Lola London, Museum London is a key partner when helping to launch artist's careers.

“We try to find artists who we think would be comfortable with the artistic level of the museum,” said Walde.

The Necks have been playing to their hearts content since 1987 and according to Walde “they are a great fit for the artistic level of the museum.”

Considering The Necks rarely get a chance to play in North American venues, having them come to London will be a treat for Londoners.

“The Necks will perform a very classy show,” said Walde. Adding the trio jazz band also has approximately 200 releases under their name.

The concert series allows for relationships to be built between artists and audiences who support the shows.

According to Walde, the concert series provides enormous opportunity for artists who do not particularly fit in with other festivals, in turn, allowing the public to decide whether or not to bring them back for future venues.

The Necks have been described as an unclassifiable jazz trio, and aside from any other musical act to come out of Australia, they are as original as they come.

The trio usually starts out playing a very basic melodic melody that is complimented by a rhythmic sound that is unlike any other.

Audiences are promised an unforgettable show.

Walde believes that “any opportunity to enrich the variety of musical choices...is a great thing for London...and the artists who participate.”

The Lola 2010 concert series is supported by the Ontario Arts Council, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, 94.9 CHRW, and Rogers.
