Rocking your vogue with OHM

OHM's annual fashion show is gearing up for a night of charity, fashion and rock and roll on Friday, March 19.

This year's theme, Rock Your Vogue — a play on the popular campaign “Rock The Vote” — reflects rock and roll's influence on fashion, from icons like Mick Jagger to current trend-setters like Rihanna.

“They all start trends,” said the show's director, Raquel Lengyel, of popular artists whose style is often emulated. “Fashion and music — it will appeal to a lot of ages.”

The event combines a runway show, complete with pieces from student designers from all over Canada, Erin Kleinberg whose clothes have appeared at Holt Renfrew and Barney's New York, and Fanshawe alumni, Brandon R. Dwyer, and a dance show — featuring So You Think You Can Dance and OHM alumni, Lara Smythe.

In addition to the flash and fashion of the evening, the true reason for the night will be given a spotlight in the form of two guest speakers talking about their experiences with cancer.

All proceeds from the high-energy night go to the Canadian Cancer Society, as well as proceeds from the designer pieces being auctioned off.

“It's a night for people to come together and have fun,” said Lengyel.

The show will be taking place at Centennial Hall on Friday, March 19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general, $20 for the VIP section — the first couple of rows, and $20 at the door. Their goal is to sell about 500 tickets.

Lady J Republic jewelry has also teamed up with OHM and designed a special necklace and bracelet for the occasion that is on sale now until the show — with 15 per cent of sales of all Lady J jewelry going towards the Canadian Cancer Society.
