Summer time look essentials

Aside from a far more flattering skin tone, summer offers much more than the rest of the seasons; social events and gatherings seem to increase by tenfold the moment the sun starts to shine. With a (somewhat) less demanding schedule, all the free time can be spent in leisure, and of course, style. Whatever your outing calls for, the perfect ensemble is as easy as enjoying an ice-cream cone in hot July.

Daytime BBQ

Is there any better way to spend your lazy afternoon just hanging around with friends? The answer is a solid yes: munching on burgers, corn-on-the-cob and sipping a Corona while hanging out with your friends on a lazy afternoon. Daytime BBQ's are summertime's best friend, but grass-lounging doesn't have to be sloppy or uncomfortable. Dresses are an easy summer staple, but are best left at home when sitting, especially on the ground. Denim cut-offs or comfy cotton shorts are way easier to lounge in and won't stain as easily as summer's other best friend: linen. Pair with a casual tank with a small special detail, such as a lace back, and add some simple accessories to add a bit of polish and finish to the outfit; you wouldn't skip the ketchup on your hotdog, would you?

Afternoon stroll and shopping:

Regardless of my intentions of strolling down the streets of the city, I almost always browse my way into a shop. I am guilty of not being able to abstain from the alluring sale sign in the window, followed by a rack full of clothes I assure myself I need. Knowing this, I dress accordingly when meandering the city after years of cursing complicated outfits I struggled to writhe in and out of while in the fitting room. Dresses are the way to go in this case, as they can easily be slipped on and off. As well, dresses have a certain air of dressiness (no pun intended) and always give off a put-together vibe. Casual cotton versions look just as cute as sheer chiffon versions, and any dress can easily be topped off with a cardigan or blazer if the temperature starts to drop.

Night out spent on a patio:

Summertime festivities are often moved outside ensure maximum warm weather enjoyment. Patio partying requires a fine balance between a more casual approach to your typical going out threads while still looking like your 3.0 self. Stow away the fancy fabrics for a dressier affair and embrace your cotton pieces when spending time outdoors, as it tends to stay a bit cleaner, and dark coloured clothes will work double duty on this front. A fun floral pattern is an easy way to dress up with a simple skirt, while a statement tank is a great way to dress up a pair of shorts. Add a right on trend side braid or messy updo, throw on your favourite heels, and enjoy that summer cocktail!
