Last weekend, the Fanshawe Falcons hosted their annual cross country invitational at the Fanshawe Conservation Area. The hosts were once again able to put forth a strong performance in what has started to become an expectation in another outstanding season for the Fanshawe runners.

In women's action, it was a solid one-two-three finish for Fanshawe as Deb Buhlers, Liliane Sparkes and Erika Haude-Pearce all crossed the finish line within one minute of each other to dominate the woman's 5km race. Also contributing to the Fanshawe Falcon's women's team victory was strong performances by Tineke Dejong and Nicole Kay.

For the Fanshawe men's team, it was Daniel Bright, Bumvet Tenure, Sean Coleshill, Josh Lumani and Jerry Hill, all placing in the top 20, to help Fanshawe win the overall men's title in the 8km race. Also turning in a strong performance for Fanshawe was Brian Keely.

Last weekend's invitational was a good tune up for Fanshawe's cross country teams as they continue their season in preparation of next month's Ontario Colleges Athletic Association championships being held at the Fanshawe Conservation Area. If the recent results for both teams are any kind indication of what this season holds for the teams, expect another strong finish from the Fanshawe Falcons.

Next up, the cross country teams will be at the Fleming Invitational, followed by preparation for the St. Clair invitational at St. Clair college in Windsor, before returning to London and making final preparations for the OCAA Championships on October 30.
