Picking out a new cologne can be tedious and time consuming, as there are literally hundreds to choose from. Most men will just stick to what they normally use because not many people want to go through the process of testing and sampling the many fragrances available. However, sometimes change is needed and by getting a new fragrance, you can revamp your sex appeal, and you might attract some new love interests.

Instead of doing a possibly endless search for a new cologne, I found the top list from About.com on the most popular men's fragrances in North America. Instead of rummaging through the hundreds of fragrances, you can see if one of these 10 sparks your senses.

1. One of the top sellers was John Varvatos, a very intense, masculine scent that is also sensual. The key notes in this cologne are Medjool date fruit, tamarind tree leaves and clary sage flower, creating a woody, oriental smell.

2. HM by Hanae Mori was the also popular. This fragrance is more of a feminine fragrance as its key notes are jasmine, lavender, chocolate and vanilla. This fragrance is commonly known as having a balance between floral and edible scents.

3. L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme is very woodsy and aromatic. This cologne is definitely for those who only want to apply their fragrance once a day as this cologne is very long lasting. The key notes are tangerine, cinnamon bark and musk.

4. Black Code by Giorgio Armani is a very light, soft fragrance for those men who like to have an everyday cologne. Its key notes are lemon, bergamot and Tonka bean.

5. Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme by Giorgio Armani is similar to Black Code in the sense that it is a lighter fragrance; however, it has more of a fresh smell to it. The notes of rosemary, jasmine and amber make it a perfect summer fragrance. This cologne has been a top seller in the USA for a number of years.

6. Aqva Pour Homme is a vibrant, sexy, masculine fragrance has notes of mandarin, petit grain and mineral amber in it.

7. Sean John Unforgiveable incorporates a very masculine smell with citrus (lemon, champagne and basil.) The designers' promise for this cologne is that it only needs to be applied once and will last through the entire day.

8. Clean Men. The name says it all; it is a very clean fresh scent with hints of grapefruit, lavender and lime. This is a classic scent for everyday use.

9. Hugo by Hugo Boss has a very peculiar smell, and most consumers will either love it or hate it as it has some odd notes such as spearmint, lavender and green apple.

10. Touch for Men by Burberry was the summer's best seller as it is musky, and floral yet very light and creates a masculine scent with its unusual combination of notes such as Artemisia, violet leaves and skin muse.
