Book in some “me time”

Hey Fanshawe,

Two months of school have flown by and, not even a week after Halloween, stores are already marketing their Christmas products. That means only about six more weeks of the semester! This is undoubtedly one of the most stressful times you've ever experienced, but make sure that you finish strong. You're juggling at least a few tests, assignments and group projects at the moment so it really pays to manage your time effectively. If you do have to make sacrifices, make sure you prioritize your tasks and be sure to add some “me time” into the mix.

It's very important that you get some time to yourself, otherwise you might burn out. This might mean going out a little less, but a night to yourself can leave you feeling much more rejuvenated than a night out with your friends. It also helps to put things into perspective. We're all constantly on the go and it's sometimes hard to stop and remember why we are here and what's important to us. Some “me time” can leave you feeling refreshed both physically and mentally so you're prepared to take on the rest of your semester.

So just remember to be good to yourself. You're going through a lot right now, and we all understand that. This is the time of the year when some students begin to slip and lose momentum, but there are so many support mechanisms in place here at the college and in the outside community that can make things easier. Make use of them.

A new service offered this year is called iCopeU. iCopeU is a social media site targeted at emotional, physical and mental wellness for Fanshawe Students. We are the first post-secondary school in the country to have such a resource available to our students, and it's a wonderful website. Going through the site you can find a lot of information, interactive games, and contacts for just about any issue you might be going through. Visit www.icopeu.com/fanshawe to familiarize yourself with the site so you can know what's there if you need it.

I wish you the best of luck in this challenging time. There's no better feeling than a job well done, so keep your head up Fanshawe!
