December will see some smoother upper lips as Movember closes with some big numbers.

Canada reportedly is the international leader of fundraising this year with $19,169,908 from about 118,597 participants.

Globally, 446,572 individuals got involved in the cause and raised $58 million.

Fanshawe Student Union did their part by raising $1,800, beating their goal of $1,000.

The money was raised from paper moustache sales, fake moustache sales and the moustache and miniskirt pub ticket sales.

All funds go towards prostate cancer research, the most common form of cancer among men in Canada. It affects one in six men each year.

Movember not only raises funds for prostate cancer, it also raises awareness on getting tested — a task most men are hesitant to do.
