Love, Lust and Lies: Before you throw on that bathing suit and put on that tanning oil...

Spring break is right around the corner, so let the late nights and drinking begin.

Some people may be wondering, other than a vacation from school, what's so great about spring break? If you are asking this question, you have never really had a real spring break vacation. Not only can you party all day and night and squeeze in some tanning time, there are also spring break hookups, no strings attached. Who doesn't want to have a spring fling with the oiled up, sexy, tall, dark and handsome guy with the chiseled chest? Or the hot girl in the sexy bikini, who kindly asks you to rub suntan lotion on her back? I am sure most of you can agree, this sounds like a great vacation.

Even though this sounds like the perfect way to spend your spring break, there are a few things that you should keep in mind before you get on that plane.

People always use phrases like "Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" (or, in most cases, Cancun). Even though you want to believe this, you should be careful, because now it's more like "Whatever happens in Cancun, stays in Cancun ... until it ends up on Facebook." I remember last year looking at a friend's Cancun photos. In one of those photos, a girl from my class happened to be in the background doing something embarrassing. I am sure she didn't realize that would end up on Facebook, let alone someone she knew would see them, since she didn't even know the person taking the photo. So you might think that things you do remain a secret, but you never know who is going to have a camera. Facebook is always watching.

I know skinny-dipping seems like a good idea when you are on spring break, but watch your stuff. You never know who is going to be wandering around your hotel at 2 a.m. Last year when I was on spring break, some people had their things stolen while they were skinny-dipping in the ocean late at night. Not only did they lose their keys and clothes, they were forced to do a naked walk of shame. Talk about embarrassing, but hilarious to watch.

Also, watch your drinks, you never know what kind of people will be at your resort, or at the club. Never leave your friends and go off your resort with someone you don't know. It is never a good idea to hook up with someone who isn't at the same hotel as you, because who knows where you can end up.

This is very important: pack condoms! It doesn't even matter if you plan on having a fling or not. Who knows what will happen, and do you really want to take a chance and come back from spring break with something you don't want? I didn't think so.

Last thing: never get attached on spring break. This is always a bad idea. Chances are when people are on spring break they are just looking to have fun, or find someone to have fun with for that week. They might have even given you a fake name and contact info, because they don't want to talk to you after spring break. So just remember, this isn't Grease, and you aren't Sandy or Danny. It's not summer loving, it's spring break loving, so don't get your hopes up.

So have an amazing spring break, and remember to wear sunscreen.
