Fashion and footwork for a good cause

INFUSION Canada is bringing fashion and dance to the London Music Hall in their annual fashion show.

The charity has raised over $200,000 since its inception in 2003. The proceeds help young adult cancer survivors. The money raised by the fashion show, which also included a lingerie show earlier in February, go towards creating $2,000 bursaries to help cancer survivors attend school anywhere in Canada.

Fashion show creative director, head choreographer and board member Shawna Kwan, who has been a part of INFUSION since the beginning, got involved because of the personal connections she gets to make with those INFUSION helps.

"INFUSION Canada means the world to me. Everyone wants to feel like they're doing something to help people. This group allows me to actually meet the people that we're helping," she said.

Each year the charity reaches more people, and in addition to helping fund their educations, INFUSION also provides an opportunity for them to find support.

"We have a great survivor network where everyone who has struggled with cancer can go and help each other. We have a ton of our survivors on our website with their stories," she said. "We empower them to help others while helping themselves."

The show's theme this year is Candyland, so expect a lot of colour and a lot of fun. The show features Fanshawe graduate designed clothing, a live DJ, singing and dancing. The show takes place on Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the London Music Hall. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
