FSU Election

FSU President

Veronica Barahona
My name is Veronica Barahona (Vero) and I’m running to be your next FSU President.

I’m a fourth year student and will be graduating from the Corporate Communication & PR program this spring.

I’m running for FSU President because I LOVE Fanshawe.

My passion for this school has led me to get involved. I have been a part of the FSU since May '09. I was the VP External (09/10), I am the current VP Internal and Southwest Director for the College Student Alliance. The people I have met along the way have helped to make these past two years, the best years of my life.

I believe that getting involved is the best way to make the most of your College experience. Take a leap of faith, and get involved, it’s worked for countless people thus far.

My main goal in running for FSU President is to provide each student the opportunity to get involved and to know about what is available to them. My platform focuses on 'Students Serving Students,' a Greener Fanshawe, Advocacy in a way we can all understand, and last but certainly not least, to create a culture on campus so that each and every student is proud to be at Fanshawe.

Even if you’re not going to vote for me, JUST VOTE! You can’t make a difference if you don’t have an opinion. Check out my website/blog at www.votevero.tumblr.com for a full version of my platform and contact information!

Alex Kamps
Hey Falcons, I am in my fourth and final year of the Bachelor of Applied Technology (Biotechnology) program. I have been a student here at Fanshawe for five and a half years, having previously completed the Personal Support Worker program at the St. Thomas campus. For the last two years I have been a Resident Advisor of Peregrine House, where I have been part of a team that has helped make many students’ time here on campus fun and safe.

Fanshawe is more than a school. It is a community that values both students’ personal successes and their academic needs. I share these values, and have spent the last three years as a Peer Tutor where I helped students achieve their academic goals.

My main goal for next year is to get the word out to all of you about the great student services we have here on campus. I would especially like to increase awareness and support for the Sharing Shop. Many students do not take advantage of all the opportunities they have in front of them, and we need to change that.

With the upcoming provincial elections, I want to sit down with student representatives from Western and the electoral candidates to work together on key issues students are facing in London.

Simply put, I eat, sleep and breathe Fanshawe College. I am a Falcon for life. I want to represent all of you in the upcoming year. Email me at votekamps@gmail.com. Let me hear your voice.

VP Entertainment

Bobby Foley
My name is Bobby, and I’m proud to be running this year to be your 2011—2012 FSU VP Entertainment. I’m in my second year here at Fanshawe College, and I’ve served both years as a Class Rep for the SAC.

I’ve been writing a weekly column about music for Interrobang for almost two years, which has given me a great pool of contacts and publicists and a lot of ideas for entertainment around the school.

However, my passion for performing runs deeper than that - not only have I been a part of school plays and musicals all my life, I’ve been playing guitar for 14 years in a variety of bands and am a veteran of improv comedy groups here in London. I’ve even hosted charity events for great causes like Wellspring.

To me, being VP Entertainment is equally exciting because it provides opportunities not only to represent students, but to represent the school itself to the rest of the country. This year you’ve got a lot of choice when it comes to the position, so I hope you’ll take a moment to look at myself and the others before you make your decision. I study Graphic Design, but I’m just as committed to bringing you the best in entertainment than the others, if not more.

Watch for me on our FSU social network and on Twitter (@FSU_Bobbyisms); I appreciate your support and hope to represent you as your FSU VP Entertainment for 2011—2012. Thank you

Emma Newman
Hey everyone!

My name is Emma, and I’m running for Vice President of Entertainment!

I’ve been a member of the FU Crew at Fanshawe since our first meeting of the year. This has brought me some amazing opportunities on and off campus and helped me meet some awesome people. I had the opportunity to attend the Regional COCA (Canadian Organization of Campus Activities) Conference in November, where I saw up-and-coming bands, comedians, DJs, hip-hop artists, and more, and I also met student leaders from other schools in Ontario. I am also currently serving as the School of Contemporary Media Representative on the Student Administrative Council, and finishing my first year of Music Industry Arts.

All of this keeps me pretty busy, but I love Fanshawe, and I love the experiences available for students here, so it’s more than worth it, and something that I’m passionate about. To me, the social experience is just as important as what we learn in class, and the VP Entertainment is the one who makes a lot of it happen.

I’m not asking you to vote for me because this is something I have been working towards all year. I’m asking you to vote for me because I wouldn’t be running if I didn’t think I would do the best job possible. The FSU works for you, and you deserve the best. The choice is up to you, so I’m asking you to vote for who YOU want to work for you.

Thanks friends,
NEWMAN
