Each year, a number of extraordinary Canadians are inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame, a series of stars' names in the sidewalks throughout Toronto's theatre district. This year, along with the red carpet, induction ceremony and gala to follow, there will be a four-day festival celebrating the best in Canadian music, film and entertainment.

The festival begins on September 29 with a performance by the legendary Burton Cummings, one of this year's inductees, at Massey Hall. The following days will be filled with musical performances including one by Chantal Kreviazuk with a symphony orchestra on September 30, also at Massey Hall. Closing the festival on October 2 will be a comedy night hosted by Jon Dore featuring the comedic talents of Mike MacDonald, Jessica Holmes, Carla Collins and other Canadian comedians.

Created in 1998, Canada's Walk of Fame aims to "educate, inform and inspire through the permanent celebration of achievements in Canadian music, sport, film and television as well as the literary, visual arts, performing arts, science and innovation," according to a press release for the event.

The festival aspect of CWOF was first introduced last year in order to celebrate Canadian entertainers in a way that goes beyond a ceremony and sidewalk star. The festival allows for an interactive and extensive look at the best Canadian talent.

The festival was so well received last year that numerous people are excited to see it come back. Mary Pompili, the Chief Operating Officer of CWOF, said, "We are happy to welcome back the Canada's Walk of Fame Festival, which has become an integral part of our signature events that also include the Red Carpet Inductee Ceremony, the televised Awards, the Inductee Charity Ball and the national broadcast on Global and Slice (TV networks). We are incredibly proud of the Festival, and we look forward to bringing celebrated and emerging Canadian talent to the stage for years to come."

Peter Soumalias, CFOW's Chief Executive Officer, also spoke about the excitement surrounding the festival. "We are thrilled to bring the Festival back again this year, and truly believe that it has become an important part of celebrating our country's artistic achievements. This Festival allows greater opportunities for the public to enjoy and celebrate the tremendous and diverse talent this country has to offer."

To date, 131 Canadians have been inducted including Nelly Furtado, Margaret Atwood and Blue Rodeo. For more information on the festival, past and present inductees and tickets, visit canadaswalkoffame.com.
