Falling in love with Fall of Love

Out of Sight Productions is presenting a new play, Fall of Love, at the ARTS Project (203 Dundas St.). This production is four classic plays wrapped up into one night of theatre. The plays examine the darker sides of love, including infatuation, deception, rejection and regret. The plays promise is that they will “make you laugh and cry in the face of love.”

To find out more, I talked to the company director, Kelly MacDonald.

What is different about the An Anthology of Four Classic Love Stories production?
“The fall of love theme interest us and the theme of personal growth for the actors and our particular company is an interesting challenge. Plus, six out of the 12 actors are vision impaired. Out Of Sight's mandate is to get blind and vision impaired aspiring theatre artists into London's community scene.”

Is there a Fanshawe College connection to the play?
“I am a Fanshawe grad. We also have current students as a part of our troupe.”

Who do you expect to be particularly interested in this production?
“These scripts showcase some of our female talent. We like many groups seem to have more ladies coming out then men so we decided to capitalise on that. We feel these give opportunity for growth because even though the show is comprised of four short plays, they are actor-driven. For an audience, the stories are fun - each one is different but yet similar and they provide the viewer a chance to see actors having to really dig deep because lighting and sound takes back seat to their performances.”

Why did this get selected as a production?
“This production is different than what we've done in the past. At this time the group needs to continue setting the bar to get the attention of theatregoers, and this production catches your attention and it is powerful and thought-provoking.”

Check out Fall of Love at the ARTS Project. The play runs October 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance on October 20 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 each, but you can get two for the price of one on October 19. For more information, check out oosproductions.com.
