Exec Corner: Have a great summer, and an even greater September!

It is with mixed emotions that I write this, but any negative ones are mostly contributed to the amount of schoolwork that now has me so seriously concerned that I have been twitching.

Since my first month here at Fanshawe, I have been representing students as Vice President Internal Affairs. And now, even though I am done and supposed to be getting the hell out of here, I am thrilled to be back and representing you as your 2006-2007 Fanshawe Student Union President. (I still can't honestly believe I won — can we get a recount?)

First off, I know this isn't my time to say goodbye or thank you, but I have to say how much I appreciated the staff that is leaving this year. I am very sad to see you go, because I have become so close to some of you, and for a select few, it is because of you got involved in the first place. Actually, it is because Erin Drake actually reads the poster boards. So yes, it is partly because of you. I wish you much success and hope to see your smiling faces come around the office next year. We all know there won't be a strike, so I won't need the extra laughs, but maybe there were be some other life-changing-students-hate-you-and-didn't-vote-for-you-experience where I will need you to come hide from the media and drink in the Shack with me.

For those who are graduating, I commend you on all your hard work. I did not begin to feel strike stress until about three days ago, so I know you are feeling it too, and I am sure you are all very eager to finish your years off. Congratulations on all your success, and I wish you much luck in the future.

For those you are continuing… be very afraid. Just kidding. Next year promises to be our best yet. I am so excited about next year's Executive team that I honestly want to scoop them up and take them home. But since that would be creepy, I will settle to simply enjoying their company in places where many people conjure. On a serious note though, the new student leaders voted in by our student body are incredibly dedicated and excited to start working. We have as follows:

Mike Critelli - VP Finance
Pat Maloney - VP Entertainment
J.P Renzella - VP Internal Affairs
Travis Mazereeuw -VP External and Academic Affairs
Rubelyn Ubando - VP Athletics

We are a great team, and I know it will show in what we bring to campus next year.

Anyways, I should sum it up. I will continue to work hard for students next year, and I hope in turn, you will work hard for me. This means by making sure your voices are heard and taking initiative to get involved and enjoy your college experience. And don't say there is nothing to do, because believe me, if you think that, you just aren't looking in the right places.

I wish you all a safe and happy summer. Yes, that is a corny line, but I also wish that you all have a lot of fun, don't get any sunburns (ouch, burn!), have weekends off, and make lots of money, so that some of your stress is alleviated for next year!

If you are around in the summer, hopefully see you in the halls. If not, have a great summer, and see you in the fall!
