Around the Ring: Wrestling “Legends” come out for a night in the ring

The No Mercy PPV from Smackdown came and went without anyone noticing.

There really wasn't any reason for any wrestling fan to plop down the outrageous $40 for this pile of crap, which isn't any better than the boring dribble that Smackdown lays out every week (well, they have been getting better, but not $40 PPV better).

The three hour Raw Homecoming special furthered my dislike for Smackdown by having to listen to JBL commentate during the night. At first I thought that I would actually have an open mind and listen to what he had to say with Michael Cole but that was soon tarnished after he started yapping about himself and comparing himself with the other Superstars that are actually still wrestling and have more talent than that fat-ass dink will ever have. When that wasn't enough, JBL started on ECW and Tazz, calling Tazz things like “midget.” Thank goodness Tazz didn't put up with it because he began firing off retorts to JBL that made JBL sound even more like an ass.

The show, as a whole, wasn't too bad. We got to see the TV return of Chris Benoit, DX deliver a funny skit involving cocks, I mean, roosters, and some WWE “Legends” come out to the ring. I think Rowdy Roddy Piper and Ric Flair are considered “legends,” but IRS, Ted DiBiase and Arn Anderson?

The one thing that bothered me about this show was that it was just a BIG plug for their other two programs. All night, all we heard were the commentators and the GMs saying how their show was the best and how their champ was the true champ. Was it any surprise that McMahon showed up and announced that at the Cyber Sunday PPV (another money grab before the Survivor Series) would feature all three champs going at it to see who was the best. With that being said, was it also surprising that all three champs came out on top against their respected opponents?

The Cena vs. The Undertaker match that was hyped all night to be the biggest thing on TV since The Big Show's ass was a disappointment. The Undertaker looked piss poor in the ring and in usual WWE style, the match ended in a DQ when Mr “Crappy” Kennedy came to the ring to interfere.

I hope that the newfound Edge/Orton alliance will finally be the thing that puts the nail in the coffin of DX. Even though I did chuckle at their antics this week, one out of seven weeks isn't a good track record. Let's let the young guys kick their ass, not like Murdoch and Cade against DX in their “street fight.”

Kane is now off of Raw and will probably show up on Smackdown by the time Survivor Series rolls around. Hey, you need a “surprise” when Kane's “See No Evil” movie gets released on DVD, right? More Kane = more DVD! I can't wait till TNA gets prime time and a two hour slot…can't you tell?
